The Demon Killer: Back View

Originally the hood was going to be sewn into a seam halfway up the collar, and then I had an epiphany: same design, but with a hidden zipper, so that the hood can be removable.

So what you are seeing here is a collar with a panel that hides a zipper. When the hood is attached, the collar effectively becomes the lower half of the hood, which folds up along with the rest of the hood (as shown in the bottom row). This means that in wind and rain when you want a hood and a popped collar, you get that in one motion, and the hood and collar don’t get in each other’s way and bunch up at the back of the neck.

I’m personally very pleased with this design, and excited to start producing it after we’ve reopened orders. Updates on that front are coming very soon.

Assassin’s Creed Modern Armor (Batman Edition) by Enzo Volante.

I love Assassin’s Creed, and always been a fan of Batman. Given the amount of similarities in some of the ways the stories played out, I liked the concept of mixing the two together and Enzo managed to create a wonderful result out of it. I’m so glad he managed to bring something like this to life and his work definitely deserves credit and praise. If I could recommend anyone for Assassin’s Creed based clothing, Enzo is your man.

Just a little sneak peak at a design I’ve been playing around with in my spare time.

I know this blog has been somewhat quiet lately, since we’ve been so busy trying to catch up, and preparing to move into a new, much larger studio. So I’m sorry, and I promise, we’ve got some big stuff coming up real soon, and it’s going to be fantastic.

I’ve been revisiting the Journey designs, polishing them up. Changed the hood design slightly, so that it’s slightly more winterized, and more evocative of the wayfarers.

I haven’t redrawn the scarf yet, but don’t worry, it will be a part of the final design.

The Demon Killer.

New trench coat design based on Dante from Devil May Cry. I’ve always wanted to design a Dante coat, as I’ve been playing the series since the first game came out. With the newest installment coming out soon, I thought the time was right.

Simple, straightforward, but with pinch of ostentatious thrown in and a Volante twist. The hood will be sewn in to the collar so that when the hood is raised, the collar goes with it, referencing the old Dante tall collar look. [read: DMC2]

It will also be water resistant, with wide-based shoulder epaulettes to help give extra protection from the elements to the tops of your shoulders.

I will be posting detailed sketches about how I see the rest of the jacket being constructed at some point.

Women’s Modern Assassin Armor.

This is the denim Modern Assassin Armor, women’s style, in black/red. This particular version is intended for use as costuming in Assassin’s Creed: Artefact 2 as well, for the 2nd of the 3 main characters.

Since the characters will be active in martial arts and acrobatic stunts, we designed special gussets for increased range of motion in the arms.

Special Edition Kenway Vest.

This is planned to be used as the main character’s costume for Assassin’s Creed: Artefact 2, which was plugged in an earlier post.

They are still trying to raise funds for the project, so please consider helping out. The project is really growing, Cas Anvar, the voice of Altaïr ibn La-Ahad in AC:Revelations has even joined the project. Assassin Beaked Jacket: Daniel Cross color scheme.

I would like to introduce this new design. It is an upgraded version of the Beaked pullover/zipper hoodie seen here: http://blog.volantedesign.us/post/18382002708

It will be available in two versions, un-lined and lined. At this point it doen’t have a concrete price point, but expect around ~$125-$150.

The jacket is designed with a higher range of motion than that of the Modern Armor, but has the sturdiness of denim that the sweatshirts don’t quite provide. There will be an option to order the jacket with ‘gauntlet cuffs’ as pictured here, or the standard cuffs of the Modern Armor. In future incarnations of the jacket, I will probably change the pockets to zippered pockets, so that the jacket can be worn for high-activity sports like parkour.

I have had tons of requests to see what it looks like with an ‘actual person’ wearing the Kenway jacket. Now you can see why I photoshop them. I don’t have a photo studio, so this is my driveway, and I don’t want to always be posting pictures of myself.

But here you go, an un-shooped photo of me in the Kenway jacket, which is also to show what it looks like with the hood down, but still attached.

Ancestors: Kenway Options

Since the Kenway jacket is available with two closure options, this post is to help explain the differences. Keep in mind, I have only made the asymmetrical option, so the symmetrical images are photoshopped and approximate.

In the top two images, on the left is the center fastened option, and the right in the asymmetrical option. The symmetrical option has narrower turnback panels and falls a little further apart, because the panel is turned away from the center, where the asymmetrical option has wider panels which when turned back fall closer to the center.

The middle image shows how the asymmetrical version looks when half-closed, exposing the blue ‘lapels’, which is a feature I personally like.

The bottom two images are laid out the same way as the top two, with the symmetrical version on the left. The left one zippers down the center of the wearer’s chest, where the asymmetrical version closes more like a fencing jacket. On the actual version of the symmetrical style, the left most zipper would not be complete when the jacket is closed, but would instead be half of a zipper, as would the right most zipper, where the center zipper would be both sides of a zipper fastened together.

Kenway Jacket - $345 USD

Ancestors: Kenway

At long last, here it is, the Kenway coat. Based on Connor Kenway’s revolutionary war regimental assassin coat. It sports turnback center panels with reversible zippers so it can be worn open or closed, as well as turnback tails which fasten at the back center, and can be unbuttoned and let to hang, for protection from the elements. Also includes a fitted, removable hood, and reversible epaulettes with the main color [white] on one side and the accent [blue] on the other.

Currently it is available with either a center zipper which folds back, or asymmetrical fastening, for a wider fold on the front panel. There will be more photos posted tomorrow to help describe the options. I also intend to design a shorter, waist-length version at a reduced cost, for those who don’t like to wear long coats, but I had to focus on this one first. Both will include two large outer pockets, and an inside breast pocket. Available with either high quality black plastic coat buttons, or brass half-dome buttons.

I tried to keep the price as low as possible, and the price I have decided on may turn out to be too low, but I will not know until I have made a few. I apologize in advance if I have to raise the price in the future.

Available to order for men and women. The overall design will not be different, only the tailoring will change. As always, can be ordered in virtually any combination of colors. Usually made of canvas or heavy weight denim, but can be ordered to preference.
