Assassin’s Creed Modern Armor (Batman Edition) by Enzo Volante.

I love Assassin’s Creed, and always been a fan of Batman. Given the amount of similarities in some of the ways the stories played out, I liked the concept of mixing the two together and Enzo managed to create a wonderful result out of it. I’m so glad he managed to bring something like this to life and his work definitely deserves credit and praise. If I could recommend anyone for Assassin’s Creed based clothing, Enzo is your man.

volanteinspiration:

Playing around with some ideas for the Volante Assassin line. Not sure how I feel about it just yet, although I think I like Option C best, or possibly Option D.

I guess the whole reason for this is that I feel like whoever buys an assassin jacket from Volante Design becomes a part of the Volante Assassin brotherhood. I don’t know if that means I am the maestro of this brotherhood, or just it’s exclusive tailor. Possible implications aside, if you buy a Volante Assassin jacket, welcome to the brotherhood.

If this turns out to be a thing people like, I may put it on a tshirt and offer it as a perk on our indiegogo fundraising campaign.

We are quickly nearing our 15k goal, but that’s just the beginning, the more money we raise, the more benefit there will be for you as a Volante customer. So help out if you can, pass the word around. Keep us going!

Anyone has any thoughts? They’d have to be changed more so that I don’t get into copyright problems, but I’m trying to get a basic idea.

EDIT: I added a submission link to volanteinspiration, feel free to submit ideas over there and I will gladly take a look.

Assassin Jacket.

This is the evolved form of the black/yellow beaked jacket from a few weeks ago. The design has been adjusted to increase range of motion so that it is more suitable for parkour and stunting. It also now has zipper pockets, so that you don’t lose your things while jumping from rooftop to rooftop.

This is the third and final Volante jacket to be used as a costume is Assassin’s Creed: Artefact 2

Shown in the Practical Assassin color scheme: grey main, red secondary.

Women’s Modern Assassin Armor.

This is the denim Modern Assassin Armor, women’s style, in black/red. This particular version is intended for use as costuming in Assassin’s Creed: Artefact 2 as well, for the 2nd of the 3 main characters.

Since the characters will be active in martial arts and acrobatic stunts, we designed special gussets for increased range of motion in the arms.

So, we hit 5k followers over the weekend, which is pretty amazing. I wasn’t expecting it, so I didn’t have a special post planned, unfortunately.

But then my sister sent me an email. She had finally gotten Cosplayfly to send her a picture of the actual Kenway jacket they are making and selling on ebay using my photography as marketing material. So here they are, with my original photos, without background exclusion or touchups.

I leave the comparison up to you, I think the disparity in quality of material and craftsmanship is fairly clear, but I would like to draw attention to a few points in particular.

Please note:

- In the top picture, the seams in the white fabric on the tails of Cosplayfly’s piece are clearly visible as being more white. This is a sign of a thin fabric which can be seen through.

- The difference of design in the shape of the blue waistband. This isn’t a question of quality, because it is a matter of opinion what the shape of the waistband should be, but the difference makes it clear that these cosplay sites are not using the official pattern, and therefore are using my photos not only illegally but also as false advertising.

- The hood.

Thanks for reading. Thank you all for your support, we love you all.

Pass it on.

EDIT: Changed images to clarify which is Volante-made and which is not.

Assassin Beaked Jacket: Daniel Cross color scheme.

I would like to introduce this new design. It is an upgraded version of the Beaked pullover/zipper hoodie seen here: http://blog.volantedesign.us/post/18382002708

It will be available in two versions, un-lined and lined. At this point it doen’t have a concrete price point, but expect around ~$125-$150.

The jacket is designed with a higher range of motion than that of the Modern Armor, but has the sturdiness of denim that the sweatshirts don’t quite provide. There will be an option to order the jacket with ‘gauntlet cuffs’ as pictured here, or the standard cuffs of the Modern Armor. In future incarnations of the jacket, I will probably change the pockets to zippered pockets, so that the jacket can be worn for high-activity sports like parkour.

Help out! Assassin's Creed: Artefact II →

Some of you may have seen Assassin’s Creed: Artefact; a short film based on the assassin’s creed series. Some revelations about the artifact of Yonaguni evoked in the first Assassin’s Creed game.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pmmbJqG7a0

The first episode has an interesting story steeped in Assassin lore, and promising martial arts scenes, but the whole thing definitely has room for improvement. So, due to popular demand Foued D. Abbari has decided to take on the task of creating a sequel. This time he wants to create a more professional film with high quality filming equipment, trained actors, and better costumes [specifically Volante Design-made costumes for the Assassin characters].

The first Artefact film was funded entirely out of pocket, but in order to fulfill the image Foued has for the second film, he is now asking for assistance from the fan community, via indiegogo.

Please take a look at the campaign, and consider donating. They are offering interesting awards according to the donation. Prizes go from being featured in the credits to being featured as a co producer. You can also be rewarded with downloadable contents such as: original concepts and illustrations, a DVD version of the short film. You can also appear in the 10 most wanted assassins list… a list that appears in the movie!

I have had tons of requests to see what it looks like with an ‘actual person’ wearing the Kenway jacket. Now you can see why I photoshop them. I don’t have a photo studio, so this is my driveway, and I don’t want to always be posting pictures of myself.
But here you go, an un-shooped photo of me in the Kenway jacket, which is also to show what it looks like with the hood down, but still attached.
Enjoy.

EDIT: I hate watermarks.

Ancestors: Kenway Options

Since the Kenway jacket is available with two closure options, this post is to help explain the differences. Keep in mind, I have only made the asymmetrical option, so the symmetrical images are photoshopped and approximate.

In the top two images, on the left is the center fastened option, and the right in the asymmetrical option. The symmetrical option has narrower turnback panels and falls a little further apart, because the panel is turned away from the center, where the asymmetrical option has wider panels which when turned back fall closer to the center.

The middle image shows how the asymmetrical version looks when half-closed, exposing the blue ‘lapels’, which is a feature I personally like.

The bottom two images are laid out the same way as the top two, with the symmetrical version on the left. The left one zippers down the center of the wearer’s chest, where the asymmetrical version closes more like a fencing jacket. On the actual version of the symmetrical style, the left most zipper would not be complete when the jacket is closed, but would instead be half of a zipper, as would the right most zipper, where the center zipper would be both sides of a zipper fastened together.

I hope this helps to clarify, if there are further questions, feel free to ask in email.

Kenway Jacket - $345 USD

Unfortunately, orders are currently closed. Please follow my blog or keep an eye out at volantedesign.us for updates.

Ancestors: Kenway

At long last, here it is, the Kenway coat. Based on Connor Kenway’s revolutionary war regimental assassin coat. It sports turnback center panels with reversible zippers so it can be worn open or closed, as well as turnback tails which fasten at the back center, and can be unbuttoned and let to hang, for protection from the elements. Also includes a fitted, removable hood, and reversible epaulettes with the main color [white] on one side and the accent [blue] on the other.

Currently it is available with either a center zipper which folds back, or asymmetrical fastening, for a wider fold on the front panel. There will be more photos posted tomorrow to help describe the options. I also intend to design a shorter, waist-length version at a reduced cost, for those who don’t like to wear long coats, but I had to focus on this one first. Both will include two large outer pockets, and an inside breast pocket. Available with either high quality black plastic coat buttons, or brass half-dome buttons.

I tried to keep the price as low as possible, and the price I have decided on may turn out to be too low, but I will not know until I have made a few. I apologize in advance if I have to raise the price in the future.

Available to order for men and women. The overall design will not be different, only the tailoring will change. As always, can be ordered in virtually any combination of colors. Usually made of canvas or heavy weight denim, but can be ordered to preference.

Orders are currently closed. Follow me here or at my store, for updates.

A sneak preview at my current project.

I devoted almost a full day to designing this hood so that it would be the most comfortable, and coolest looking hood I’ve made yet. I want to make sure the Kenway jacket is well worth the wait since I first posted drawings in May.

I’m still working on the rest of the coat pattern, but if goes according to plan, the Kenway should be available for order by Wednesday. Keep an eye out.

Another Assassin wearing gear provided by Volante Design.

This is what the Beaked hoodie looks like with a zipper, by the way. Sorry there haven’t been any official photos of that variant yet; hard to find the time to make prototypes for photographing between orders.

Looks awesome, Aggie.

If you think of me as a guy in an open-front shop with a big sign saying ‘Sarto’… it’s not quite right, but it is a dream of mine.

Nonetheless, even now I think of myself as the tailor, selling assassins their gear, clothing, and the odd parachute.

That said I am always happy to post photos submitted by satisfied customers.

The Templar.

This was an inspiration I had this morning, and it was an easy enough design that I decided to draw it today. I’ve been so full of ideas lately, that I decided to make a basic front/back template of a man and a woman, so that I can get my ideas down faster.

This one will be made in the same way as the Modern Assassin Armor, having a lined and unlined version with 2 outside pockets and an inside one. Probably denim, or anything of a similar weight, for the fabric. But because the pattern is less complex, the price will probably run a little lower, but I won’t make an estimate until I’ve got a prototype.

—I hope I don’t lose fans for designing a Templar jacket… >.>
