keepingiti: Have you ever considered making clothing available in 'standard' sizing (small, medium etc.)? I've always wondered whether this would reduce the price of your stuff and allow more people to get it :)

I have been building a portfolio of sizes, and will eventually be able to standardize them, but in fact it will not really drop the prices, as I only count the hours it takes to produce the jacket, not the time it takes to adjust the pattern. If I am ever able to drop the price, it will unfortunately be only when I am able to outsource to a manufacturer, because they have more efficient means for cutting fabric.

I say ‘unfortunately’ because outsourcing will require not only a greater demand than I currently have, but also for my business to have greater capital, to invest in such a venture. The other problem with outsourcing is that it greatly limits the customization available to the customer.

If, and when I do it, it will be more for the Beaked hoodie, and similar designs, rather than my more complex designs, seeing as offering customization is one of my major goal with this company. I like to offer a unique piece of clothing to each person who orders one.
